This lime green Mountain Dew cocktail is filled with so much flavor! It's made with vodka, sour apple schnapps, lime juice, and pineapple juice. It's then topped with a little bit of Mountain Dew for the perfect amount of sweetness! A great Halloween cocktail!
Glowing Green, Slightly Sour, & Sweet
This mountain dew cocktail reminds me of a big bowl of punch. It has the little bit of sourness. It's sweet, and it's fizzy. Plus, the glowing green color makes it look so cool. It's the perfect new drink for Halloween!
I really tried to keep the ingredient list short on this one to make it a simple drink, but I kept coming back to the same combination over and over- sour apple schnapps, vodka, lime juice, and pineapple juice topped with mountain dew. It's just the right amount of everything to make a great drink!
The sour apple mountain dew cocktail was a part of my Monster House movie night! It's green just like a typical monster (right?), and it has Mountain Dew for a reason.
There's a scene in the movie where the babysitter tells DJ that he doesn't need to drink any more Mountain Dew because she thinks he's crazy. So with that said, let's drink some more Mountain Dew.
Sour Apple Mountain Dew Cocktail Ingredients

✽ Vodka: I wanted to go with a liquor that didn't have much taste so the sour apple flavor and Mountain Dew would shine through. You can also use white rum in place of the vodka.
✽ Sour Apple Schnapps: I've been loving this sour apple schnapps during all these Halloween festivities. Not only is it a pretty color, but it also is a must in your pantry if you are a sour apple fan like myself. Two good brands are DeKuyper Sour Apple Pucker Liqueur and Mr Stacks Sour Apple Schnapps.
✽ Pineapple Juice: Adds such great flavor to the cocktail. Almost like a Mountain Dew Pina Colada!
✽ Lime Juice: Even though there's only a small amount of lime juice in this cocktail, it really does make a difference and adds citric acid. Freshly squeezed lime juice is best!
✽ Mountain Dew: Adds citrus, fizziness, and deliciousness.
✽ Garnish: lime wedge

How to Make Sour Apple Mountain Dew Cocktails
➊ In a cocktail shaker, combine 1.5 ounces vodka, 1 ounce sour apple schnapps, 2 ounces pineapple juice, and 1/4 ounce lime juice with a couple ice cubes.
➋ Shake for about 10 seconds until chilled. Strain into a cocktail glass (lowball or highball glass) with crushed ice. Top with 4 ounces of Mountain Dew, and garnish with a lime wedge. Cheers!

Can you substitute the Mountain Dew?
While I really do believe that Mountain Dew is the best ingredient here, it can be replaced with any kind of lemon-lime soda or citrus soda.
Are there any other variations of this cocktail?
Another variation that I tried that was also pretty good was replacing the pineapple juice with a 1:1:1 ratio of lime juice, lemon juice, and simple syrup. You can also use sour mix as well. This cocktail was not as sweet. It was more citrusy and tart.
You could also switch it up by replacing the original Mountain Dew with Baja Blast, Code Red, or Mtn Dew's Halloween soda, Voodoo Dew (or VooDew).

Ingredients
• 2 ounces pineapple juice
• 1 1/2 ounces vodka
• 1 ounce sour apple schnapps
• 1/4 ounce lime juice
• 4 ounces Mountain Dew
• Lime wedge, for garnish
Instructions
➊ In a cocktail shaker with a couple ice cubes, combine pineapple juice, vodka, sour apple schnapps, and lime juice. Shake for about 10 seconds until chilled. Strain into a cocktail glass with crushed ice.
➋ Top the glass off with Mountain Dew, and garnish with a lime wedge.
