Hollywood Shot Recipe with Vodka

Pineapple + Raspberry = Super Tasty

Pineapple and raspberry is not a combination that you see every day, but it works in these shots! The tartness of the pineapple juice pairs so well with the sweetness of the raspberry liqueur. And, of course, some vodka is added in to make them boozy.

These fruity shots are great for any party, kicking off a weekend, and celebrating on hot summer days.

✽ Vodka: The vodka is the main boozy element in these shots. My favorites are Tito's Vodka and Grey Goose Vodka. You could substitute the plain vodka with any type of fruity flavored vodka as well. Use a pineapple vodka or raspberry vodka to keep the same flavor profile.

✽ Raspberry Liqueur: Raspberry liqueur is sweet and rich which pairs nicely with the slightly tart pineapple juice.

Some good brands include Chambord Black Raspberry Liqueur, Dekuyper Raspberry Liqueur, and Mr Stacks Raspberry Liqueur.

✽ Pineapple Juice: Pineapple juice is one of my favorite shot ingredients. It just tastes so good especially with the raspberry flavor in these Hollywood shots. Use freshly squeezed pineapple fruit juices for better and fresher flavor.

✽ Pineapple Wedges & Raspberries: I like to garnish my shots to make them a little fancier especially when serving at a party. Garnish these shots with a pineapple wedge, raspberry, or both!

Hollywood Shot Recipe: Questions

✽ Can I use flavored vodka?

Yes! To add in even more flavor, use a fruity flavored vodka. To keep the same taste, use a pineapple vodka or raspberry vodka. Or use any other flavored vodka to mix it up!

✽ What is a Hollywood Shot?

This Hollywood shot recipe I created is based off of the Hollywood cocktail. The Hollywood cocktail recipe differs depending on who you ask.

The most popular version of the Hollywood cocktail that you find online consists of the same ingredients you find in this shot recipe: vodka, pineapple juice, and raspberry liqueur. It is also sometimes called a Raspberry Smash.

However, the Hollywood cocktail recipe found on Difford's Guide consists of light white rum, pink grapefruit juice, grenadine, simple syrup, and egg white. His recipe is adapted from William "Cocktail Bill" Boothby's recipe (perhaps the original recipe?) from his 1930 book, Swallows World Drinks and How to Prepare Them. Boothby's recipe called for Bacardi White Rum, grapefruit juice, grenadine, egg white, and a sprinkle of nutmeg.
