These Hollywood shots are based off a the classic Hollywood cocktail made with fresh grapefruit juice, silver rum, and a splash of grenadine. They are tart, sweet, and strong! These pink shots are perfect for any type of party!
Delicious Pink Grapefruit Shots
If you are a big fan of grapefruits then these shots are a must-try! The grapefruit juice is combined with sweet grenadine and silver rum for the perfectly balanced fruity shot.
These shots are perfect for any type of party but especially great for bachelorette parties or birthday parties due to their fun pink color. And because they are fruity, they also make a great treat for a sunny day hanging out at the beach or pool.
Grapefruit Hollywood Shots: Ingredients

✽ Grapefruit Juice: The grapefruit juice is the main flavor of these shots and tastes so good with the rum. Use freshly squeezed grapefruit fruit juices for a fresher tasting shot.
✽ White Rum: The white rum (also known as silver rum or light rum) is the alcoholic component of these shots. Plantation White Rum, Barcardi White Rum, and Captain Morgan White Rum are good rum options.
✽ Grenadine: This pomegranate syrup will bring in the sweetness to counterbalance the bitterness and tanginess of the grapefruit. I use Rose's Grenadine Syrup.
✽ Grapefruit Slices: To make these shots extra fun, garnish the shot glasses with a small grapefruit slice.
How to Make Hollywood Shots with Grapefruit Juice & Rum
➊ In a cocktail shaker, combine 3/4 ounce white rum, 3/4 ounce grapefruit juice, and 1/2 teaspoon grenadine with ice. Shake until chilled, about 10 seconds.
➋ Strain shot into shot glass. Garnish with a small grapefruit slice, if desired. Cheers!

✽ Can I use a different type of juice?
Yes! There's many different types of juices that would taste great mixed with white rum and grenadine. Pineapple juice, orange juice, and cranberry juice are some good options.
✽ What is a Hollywood Shot?
This Hollywood shot recipe I created is based off of the Hollywood cocktail. The Hollywood cocktail recipe differs depending on who you ask.
The Hollywood cocktail recipe found on Difford's Guide consists of light white rum, pink grapefruit juice, grenadine, simple syrup, and egg white. His recipe is adapted from William "Cocktail Bill" Boothby's recipe (perhaps the original recipe?) from his 1930 book, Swallows World Drinks and How to Prepare Them. Boothby's recipe called for Bacardi White Rum, grapefruit juice, grenadine, egg white, and a sprinkle of nutmeg.
✽ Pineapple Hollywood Shot

Ingredients
• 3/4 ounce grapefruit juice
• 3/4 ounce white rum
• 1/2 teaspoon grenadine
• Optional: 1 small grapefruit slice, for garnish
Instructions
➊ In a cocktail shaker, combine grapefruit juice, white rum, and grenadine with some ice. Shake until chilled, about 10 seconds.
➋ Strain into a shot glass. Garnish with a small slice of grapefruit, if desired. Cheers!
