A sweet cherry and tangy lime combination.
Cherry limeades are a delightful drink and one of my summer favorites. They are so refreshing and are a combination of the perfect flavors. These red shots are great for anybody that loves a good cherry limeade!
Cherry vodka limeade shots are easy to make and you can make a bunch in no time. Plus, they are so cute when garnished with real cherries and a small lime slice. These shots are great for hot summer days and pool parties!

β½ Cherry Vodka: I use cherry-infused vodka instead of plain vodka to make sure there is a lot of cherry flavor in these shots.
I used Veil Cherry Vodka for my shots. Other good options include Smirnoff Cherry Vodka, UV Cherry Vodka, Skyy Infusions Cherry Vodka, Three Olives Cherry Vodka, Grey Goose Cherry Noir Vodka, and Pinnacle Cherry Vodka. You can also use Svedka Cherry Limeade Vodka for more delicious cherry limeade flavor.
β½ Maraschino Cherry Juice (or maraschino cherry syrup): The juice from a jar of cherries is going to be really sweet and full of cherry flavor. It adds in the perfect amount of sugar. You could also use cherry schnapps as a substitute for the maraschino cherry juice.
β½ Lime Juice: The citrus juices give this shot some tart flavor to counterbalance the sweetness of the maraschino cherry juice. Freshly squeezed lime juice tastes best!
β½ Maraschino Cherries: One of my favorite parts of a cherry limeade is eating the sweet cherries after finishing the drink. Add a maraschino cherry or cherry pieces to the rim of the shot glass for a snack after taking the shot! You could also garnish this shot with cocktail cherries or fresh cherries such as bing cherries.
β½ Lime Wedges: In addition to the maraschino cherry, you can also add a small lime wedge to the shot glass rim. The lime wedge makes these shots look super cute!
How to Make Cherry Limeade Shots
β In a cocktail shaker, combine 3/4 ounce cherry vodka, 1/2 ounce maraschino cherry juice, and 1/4 ounce fresh lime juice with a few ice cubes. Give it a good shake until chilled, about 10 seconds.
You can also make multiple cherry shots at a time. Just make sure to keep the porportions the same.
If you skip the shaker part, you'll end up with a room temperature shot. It's not bad, but the chilled version is much better, in my opinion.
β Strain the cherry vodka shot into a shot glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry and/or small lime wedge. Cheers!
Cherry Limeade Shot: Questions
β½ Can I use plain vodka for these shots?
I wouldn't recommend it. If using regular vodka, you'll lose a lot of that delicious cherry flavor. If all you have is plain vodka, I would increase the cherry juice a bit to get more cherry into the shot.
β½ What can I use instead of maraschino cherry juice?
My favorite cherry limeade shots use maraschino juice. It adds cherry flavor with enough sweetness to counteract the tanginess of the lime juice. I wouldn't substitute with tart cherry juice because you may end up with shots that are way to tart and tangy.
If you must, substitute the maraschino cherry juice with a cherry schnapps (cherry liqueur).
You can also use maraschino cherry syrup or homemade cherry simple syrup as well.
