These pineapple tamarind shots are so tasty! They are filled with pineapple juice, pineapple vodka, and tamarind vodka. They are sweet, tangy, and little bit spicy- the perfect combination. The shot glass is given a chamoy and tajin rim which makes this shot even tastier and taste like Mexican candy. Great to serve at summer parties!
Pineapple Mexican Candy Shots
These pineapple shots taste just like summer. The combination of sweet, salty, tangy, and slightly spicy make them so addicting.
From the very first sip I had of Smirnoff Tamarind Vodka, I was in love. There's really no other flavor like it, and I keep wanting to add it to every cocktail and shot I make. It's so tasty!
For this shot, I used a mix of pineapple vodka and tamarind vodka. The chamoy + tajin rim makes these shots taste just like Mexican candy.
A summer party or kicking off the weekend would be the perfect time to serve up some pineapple cocktails and shots!

β½ Pineapple Vodka: By using pineapple vodka, you get so much delicious pineapple flavor in these shots and less vodka flavor. While plain vodka will work, I don't recommend it. Some of my favorite brands to use are Ciroc Vodka Pineapple, New Amsterdam Pineapple Vodka, Smirnoff Pineapple Vodka, and Veil Pineapple Vodka.
β½ Tamarind Vodka: As I mentioned earlier, this vodka is everything. It's a must for these shots. I use Smirnoff Tamarind Vodka to make mine. I usually can find it at most liquor stores.
β½ Pineapple Juice: The pineapple juice will add in a needed sweetness and more pineapple goodness. You can either buy pre-packaged pineapple juice or use freshly squeezed pineapple juice for even better flavor.
β½ Chamoy: Chamoy is a delicious sauce made from dehydrated fruits (apricot, mango, plums), chili powder, salt, sugar, and citrus. It's so good and pairs very well with sweet fruit- like pineapple. It's the perfect balance of flavors!
β½ Tajin: Tajin is a seasoned salt that consists of chili peppers, lime, and sea salt. It tastes very similar to Chamoy. Together, they make this pineapple shot so good.
How to Make Pineapple Tamarind Shots
β In a cocktail shaker, combine 1/2 ounce pineapple vodka, 1/2 ounce tamarind vodka, and 1/2 ounce pineapple juice. Add in a couple of ice cubes, and shake until chilled, about 10 seconds.
If you skip the shaker part, you'll end up with a room temperature shot. It's not bad, but the chilled version is much better, in my opinion.
β If desired, dip the rim of the shot glass into some Chamoy and then roll the rim of the glass into a pile of Tajin until coated.
β Strain the pineapple tamarind shot into the prepared shot glass. Garnish with a slice of pineapple. Cheers!

Pineapple Vodka Recipe: Questions
β½ Do I have to use tamarind vodka?
A lot of these shots' flavor comes from the tamarind vodka. Because of that, I would say that the tamarind vodka is a crucial ingredient in order to mimic that Mexican candy taste.
However, a pineapple vodka shot without tamarind is still pretty good. Use 1 ounce of pineapple vodka with 1/2 ounce of pineapple juice to get a plain pineapple shot.
β½ What is Chamoy and what does it taste like?
Chamoy is a sauce that is made from fruit (usually mango, plum, or apricot), chili powder, salt, sugar, and citrus. It has a mix of tastes- sweet, sour, and slightly spicy.
Most commonly, Chamoy is eaten on fresh fruit (like fresh pineapple chunks) and vegetables. It mimics the flavors of Mexican candy- sweet and tangy.
Tajin tastes very similar to Chamoy. However, Tajin is a seasoned sauce while Chamoy is a sauce.
β½ Pineapple Vodka Cocktail
If you aren't much in a shot kind of mood and you'd rather just have a fruity cocktail instead, no worries! You can turn this recipe into a pineapple juice cocktail instead!
You can play with the proportions of each ingredient to your liking, but a good starting point would be 1 ounce of pineapple vodka, 1 ounce of tamarind vodka, and 4 ounces pineapple juice. A splash of lime juice would also be great added into this pineapple vodka drink. Strain it into a martini glass, and garnish with pineapple or a slice of lime. Now you have a pineapple martini! Perfect cocktail for those hot summer days!
