A boozy and creamy Italian cream soda! This cocktail is made with a simple homemade vanilla simple syrup, heavy cream, whipped cream vodka, and topped with club soda. This bubbly sweet drink is perfect for those hot summer months. It's also a fun drink during the Halloween season due to it's ghost-like appearance!
Sweet, Vanilla-flavored, and Boozy
There was a time in my life that I was obsessed with Italian Cream Sodas. Others would go to the coffee shops to get the iced coffee, and all I wanted was a homemade soda.
One day I decided to figure out how to make the refreshing drink at home, and they really could not be easier to create. Best news ever!
All you really need is simple ingredients- some sugar, cream, and bubbly water. You can add whatever flavors to the simple syrup and make it your own. I usually just go for vanilla though. It's simple and oh so tasty.
Then I had an idea for cream soda cocktails! This specific recipe has whipped cream vodka to make it extra flavorful and boozy! Such a tasty treat!

β½ Sugar + Water + Vanilla Extract: The sugar and water are combined to make a homemade simple syrup. Vanilla extract is added to make it vanilla-flavored simple syrup. The higher quality vanilla extract you use, the better the simple syrup will taste.
I personally like the taste of the homemade vanilla simple syrup. However, you could also use pre-made vanilla syrup as well. Torani Syrup is a popular and tasty brand of beverage syrups.
β½ Whipped Cream Vodka: Either whipped cream vodka or vanilla vodka will work here, but I prefer the whipped cream flavor more.
β½ Club Soda Water: Adds the bubbly to the soda. You can also substitute with seltzer water, sparkling water, tonic water. As long as it is carbonated, it will work so use your favorite!
β½ Heavy Cream: A bit of heavy cream will make this soda so creamy and delicious.

Boozy Italian Cream Soda Questions
β½ Can I make a different flavor besides vanilla?
Yes! You can flavor your homemade simple syrup with any kind of extract. There's so many flavor possibilities! Or you can buy premade flavored syrup, such as Torani syrups, and use those as well.
You could also try different flavors of vodka to change up the flavor profile of this drink.
β½ What's the difference between club soda, seltzer water, sparkling water, and tonic water?
Seltzer water is plain water with carbon dioxide added to it. A lot of the flavored bubbly waters you buy at the grocery stores are seltzer waters.
Club soda is water with carbon dioxide added to it as well, but it also has potassium bicarbonate and potassium sulfate added to it.
Sparkling mineral water is made with natural spring water and has naturally occurring minerals in it. Sometimes it is naturally carbonated and sometimes carbon dioxide is added as well to increase the bubbliness.
Tonic water is carbonated water that has quinine and sugar added.
While you may prefer one's taste over the other, any of these will provide the carbonation we are looking for in this Italian cream soda recipe.
