These red Gatorade shots are so delicious and full of tropical flavors. They are made with fruit punch Gatorade, pineapple juice, vodka, and triple sec. These shots are perfect for any party, summer pool days, and hot sunny days.

Gatorade Shots Recipe

Gatorade with all the tropical vibes.

It seems like whenever I see somebody drinking Gatorade, they are holding a bottle of the light blue sports drink called Glacier Freeze. However, I think that the classic red Fruit Punch deserves some love too. I've been drinking the red Gatorade flavor as long as I can remember, and I still enjoy it.

This shot combines tasty Fruit Punch flavor of the famous sports drink with some tropical flavors and it is so good! The fruit punch mixed with pineapple and triple sec takes me straight to the beach.

These shots would be perfect for a summer pool party or a hot summer day. The bright red color also makes them great for a Halloween party!

Fruit Punch Gatorade:While I feel like the fruit punch flavor pairs best with the other ingredients, you could use the other flavors of Gatorade in this shot recipe as well. I also just really love the pink-orange color these shots end up being when using the red Gatorade.

✽ Vodka: With the strong flavors of the rest of the ingredients, you won't even be able to taste the vodka in these red shots.

Pineapple Juice: Along with the Gatorade, the pineapple juice is also another big player in this shot. Freshly squeezed pineapple juice will give you the best flavor, but store-bought pineapple juice is also tasty!

✽ Orange Liqueur: This adds in a little more booze and some delicious citrus flavor.

I usually use Triple Sec in this recipe, but any of the orange liqueurs will do!

I decided not to put a garnish on my Gatorade shot, but if you would like a garnish- an orange slice, orange peel, or lemon slice on the rim of the glass would be great.

How to Make Red Gatorade Shots

➊ In a cocktail shaker, combine 0.75 ounces of vodka, 0.5 ounces red fruit punch Gatorade, 0.5 ounces pineapple juice, and 0.25 ounces triple sec (orange liqueur) with a couple of ice cubes. Shake until chilled, about 10 seconds.

If you skip the shaker part, you'll end up with a room temperature shot. It's not bad, but the chilled version is the best way, in my opinion.

Red Gatorade Shot: Questions

✽ Can I use a different type of Gatorade?

Absolutely! I, personally, do feel like the red fruit punch flavor is best in this shot. However, the other flavors would still be tasty too. Try out Orange, Riptide Rush, Cool Blue, Frost Glacier Freeze, or Grape! Just make the recipe the exact same way with the only difference being the flavor of Gatorade.

✽ What if I don't have an orange liqueur?

I actually first made this recipe with orange juice in the place of the triple sec. With the orange juice, it was really good, but I felt like the triple sec version was great. So if you don't have triple sec on hand, you can substitute it with orange juice!
