These purple grape vodka shots taste just like candy! This grape vodka shots recipe is so simple to make and only has 3 ingredients- grape juice, pear vodka, and triple sec. The fruity flavors of grapes, pears, and oranges pair so well together. Plus, these shots are super fun when garnished with a grape gummy candy!
Purple Grapes, Oranges, and Pears
There's something so nostalgic about having a glass of grape juice. I almost never buy it, but everytime I do I think, 'I should buy this more.' My husband says it brings back the memories of a hotel breakfast as a kid. Ah, the good 'ol days.
Today, my grape juice is playing a completely different role. Shots! I wanted to create a purple grape shot so I started off with just a very basic shot- grape juice and vodka. Highly would NOT recommend. Well, unless you like grape-flavored cough syrup. Then that may be a good route for you.
I do not like the taste of grape medicine so I knew that these shots would need some different flavors coming to play. This is where orange liqueur and pear vodka show up. These three fruity flavors together are so good.
And of course, I want to have a garnish. I went with a grape gummy candy which is not only yummy, but they also make the shots look adorable.
If you are a fan of grape juice then these shots are for you. While they are good any time of the year, they are perfect treats for summer parties! Let's get to making them!
Grape Pear Vodka Shots: Ingredients

β½ Grape Juice: The key ingredient to these shots! To bring the flavor of juicy grapes, I added 100% grape juice. For my shots, I used Welch's Concord Grape Juice. The grape juice contains enough sugar so we won't have to add additional sugar or simple syrup.
β½ Pear Vodka: Pear vodka is one of my favorite flavored vodkas to keep on hand. A pear vodka martini is such a delicious drink, and pear vodka is also tasty when replacing regular vodka in a Moscow mule. The pear tastes really good with the grape juice, and by using a flavored vodka instead of plain vodka, we'll eliminate that medicine-y taste. The perfect addition to this recipe!
Popular pear vodka brands are Grey Goose La Poire, Absolut Pears Vodka, and Veil Pear Vodka.
β½ Triple Sec: Triple Sec is an orange liqueur that rounds out the flavors of this grape pear shot.
β½ Grape Gummy Candy: A cute garnish for these shots glasses is a grape gummy candy. I used Jolly Rancher Gummies for my garnish. Sour Patch Kids Grape is also another great option.
How to Make Grape Shots Recipe
β In a cocktail shaker, combine two ice cubes, 3/4 ounce grape juice, 3/4 ounce pear vodka, and 1/2 ounce triple sec. Shake until chilled, about 10 seconds.
If you skip the shaker part, you'll end up with a room temperature shot. It's not bad, but the chilled version is the best way, in my opinion.
β Strain the grape shot into a shot glass. If desired, cut a small slit into a grape gummy candy. Place the grape candy on to the rim of the shot glass. Cheers!
Grape Vodka Shots: Questions
β½ Can I use regular vodka instead of pear vodka?
I highly recommend using pear vodka for these purple grape shots. However, if you can't find pear vodka, you can substitute it for regular vodka. The taste will be a little more medicine-like, but it won't be horrible.
β½ Grape Vodka instead of Pear Vodka
Another option would be to substitute the pear vodka for grape vodka for a more grape-forward shot. UV Grape Vodka made with real concord grapes, Smirnoff Grape Vodka, Three Olives Grape Vodka, and Pinnacle Grape Vodka are all great choices!
β½ What is triple sec?
Triple sec is an orange liqueur. It's a very common liqueur that is mixed into many different popular alcoholic drinks such as margaritas, sidecars, Long Island iced teas, and cosmopolitans.
Triple sec was invented in 1834 by Jean-Baptiste Combier and his wife in France. It's made with both bitter oranges and sweet oranges. The orange peels ared dried in the sun, and the mixture is then distilled in copper pots. To purify the flavor, it then went through a third distillation.
Cointreau is a type of triple sec. It's more expensive than the bottles labeled 'Triple Sec', higher in alcohol, and has a smoother, stronger, and more complex flavor.
β½ Grape Cocktail
If you are more of a cocktail person than a shot person, no worries! A popular purple colored cocktail is the Grape Ape. The Grape Ape drink recipe is simply 1 part grape vodka to 2 part lemon-lime soda with a splash of sweet and sour mix. Served with ice in a highball glass.
You could also turn this grape vodka shot into a grape juice cocktail as well. It's that tasty! Just simply pour over a large ice cube in a cocktail glass and sip! If you don't want a cocktail that strong, increase the amount of grape juice to your liking.
