If your favorite cocktail to sip on is a Bloody Mary then these shots will soon become your favorite as well. Bloody Mary shots are flavorful mini Bloody Marys that you shoot back in one gulp. They are especially good with a hot sauce and celery salt rim and garnished with olives.
These shots are the perfect way to get some vegetables in your diet while also having a lot of fun. Bloody Mary shots are so savory and so delicious. They are great to serve at any get-together or brunch to get the party started!
Bloody Mary Shots: Ingredients

β½ Tomato Juice: The tomato juice will be the base of these shots just like an actual Bloody Mary. I used 100% tomato juice, but you could also use 100% vegetable juice as well.
β½ Vodka: Plain vodka is the usual go-to liquor when making Bloody Marys. However, you could substitute the vodka with gin if you prefer. Black pepper vodka is also a good option!
β½ Worcestershire Sauce: I just gotta have worcestershire in my Bloody Mary! It adds a nice savory and salty flavor to the shots.
β½ Olive Juice: I love olives and add them to any recipe when I get the chance. The salty olives pair so well with the tomato juice.
β½ Lemon Juice: A little lemon juice will brighten up these shots and balance out the flavors. Freshly squeezed lemon juice tastes best! You could also use lime juice if that is all you have on hand.
β½ Black Pepper: Just a pinch of black pepper to these shots will add just a small amount of spice.
β½ Garnishes: Manzanilla Olives, Hot Sauce, & Celery Salt: The hot sauce and celery salt rim and the olives really make these shots extra tasty and fun. I like to lick the rim, take the shot, and then eat the olives. You could also garnish with celery stalks as well.
How to Make Bloody Mary Shots
β In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 1/4 oz tomato juice, 3/4 oz vodka, 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 teaspoon olive juice, 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice, and a pinch of black pepper. Add a few ice cubes, and shake until chilled, about 10 seconds.
β Put a small amount of hot sauce on one side of a small plate and a small pile of celery salt on the other side of the plate. Dip the top of one side of the shot glass into the hot sauce and then into the celery salt. Repeat with the other shot glass.
β Strain the Bloody Mary shots into the prepared shot glasses. Garnish each shot with 2 manzanilla olives on cocktail sticks or toothpicks.
To take the shot: Lick the hot sauce and celery salt, take the shot, and then eat the olives. Cheers!
Bloody Mary Shot Recipe: Questions
β½ What other liquor can I use for these shots?
Gin makes a wonderful alternative. I actually prefer Bloody Marys made with gin instead of vodka. If you use tequila for this recipe you will have Bloody Maria shots!
There are also many flavored vodkas that taste good with tomato juice including black pepper vodka (Absolut Peppar), bacon-flavored vodka (Bakon Vodka), and dill pickle vodka.
β½ Can I use bloody mary mix to make these shots?
Absolutely! Depending on the flavor and how good the mix is, you may just need to add vodka to the mix and garnish the shot!
β½ Can I make this shot stronger?
When experimenting with proportions for this shot, I originally made them with more vodka. Shots are supposed to be strong, right? However, the higher vodka shot was not doing it for me. The flavors were way off.
With that said, it all depends on your own personal tastes. If you like more vodka then add more vodka!
β½ What else can I garnish this Bloody Mary shot with?
Celery sticks are the most popular option for Bloody Marys. You can also garnish with black olives, dill pickles, pickled pearl onions, a lemon slice, cheese cubes, or even a shrimp!
