What goes better together than pineapple and summertime?
These pineapple Jello shots make the perfect treat for summer parties! I'm personally a fan of anything pineapple flavored- piña coladas, pineapple upside down cake, pineapple salsa, beachy pineapple cocktails, and, of course, pineapple Jello shots!
These fun Jello shots are full of delicious pineapple flavor and do not have that strong vodka, medicine-like, flavor that some Jello shots have! They are made with both pineapple gelatin and pineapple vodka. When topped with a slice of maraschino cherry, they are extra yummy and cute!
Be everybody's favorite person at your next summer get-together and serve up these bright yellow shots!

✽ Pineapple Gelatin Powder: Pineapple Jello is so good! By using flavored gelatin, these shots are super easy to make and super flavorful. I like to use Jell-O's Island Pineapple gelatin for these shots.
✽ Boiling Water: The boiling hot water helps ensure that the gelatin powder dissolves so there are no clumps in the final Jello shots.
✽ Pineapple Vodka: I chose to use pineapple vodka instead of plain vodka. This really ensures that the Jello shots will be full of pineapple taste and won't have a strong vodka flavor to them.
Popular brands include New Amsterdam Pineapple Vodka, Veil Pineapple Vodka, Ciroc Vodka Pineapple, Seagram's Tropical Pineapple Vodka, and Smirnoff Pineapple. Svedka Mango Pineapple Vodka would also be really tasty for pineapple mango Jello shots!
✽ Maraschino Cherries: These shots topped with a maraschino cherry is so cute. Kind of like a Pineapple Upside Down Cake! Plus, the cherries taste so good with the pineapple gelatin.
How to Make Pineapple Vodka Jello Shots
➊ In a medium mixing bowl or large measuring cup, pour 1 cup of boiling water into 3 ounces of pineapple gelatin powder. Stir for about 2 minutes until all of the gelatin powder is fully dissolved.
➋ Stir in 1 cup of room temperature pineapple vodka.
➌ Pour the pineapple Jello mixture evenly into 10 2-ounce plastic cups. I like to put all the filled shots on to a baking sheet or cookie sheet so it's easier to transport them to and from the fridge. Place the Jello shot cups in the fridge for 3-4 hours or until firm and set.
➍ Right before serving, top with maraschino cherries. You can either keep the cherries whole or cut them in half. Or, you could also garnish with a fresh pineapple wedge. Cheers!
Pineapple Vodka Jello Shots: Questions
✽ Can I use regular vodka instead of pineapple vodka?
Yes, you can use plain vodka in place of the flavored vodka.
However, I find that using pineapple vodka in these shots really improves the flavor. When using plain vodka, you get a strong vodka taste to them (almost medicine-like). But at the end of the day, the pineapple gelatin is still pretty strong and the shots will still be tasty if regular vodka is used!
✽ What other vodkas would be good in these pineapple shots?
If you don't have pineapple vodka on hand or you can't find it at the liquor store, there's many different types of flavored fruity vodka that would taste good in these Jello shots.
Some other vodka suggestions would be caramel, mango, lime, orange, and strawberry. Go with a mix of cherry vodka and vanilla vodka (or cake vodka) for more of pineapple upside down cake shots. Use half cup of each vodka in place of the 1 cup of pineapple vodka. Or try coconut vodka for tropical flavors.
Other delicious liquor choices would be white rum or coconut rum for pina colada Jello shots. The coconut flavor and pineapple go so well together!
✽ Can I add more alcohol to these shots?
I don't recommend adjusting the amount of alcohol in Jello shots because you run the risk of the Jello shots not setting properly. For a flavored box of Jello, I always suggest using 1 cup of liquor.
