These alien brain hemorrhage shots don't just look super cool, they taste really good too! The Irish cream, peach schnapps, blue curacao, and grenadine all combine to make a fun and fruity shot. These shots are perfect for any party but especially great for Halloween parties!
The coolest shots ever!
I love these shots for two reasons: they look so cool and they taste so good. These alien brain hemorrhage shots are meant to look like a bleeding brain and are the perfect shot to impress all of your guests at your next party. It is sure to be a crowd pleaser! These shots are great for adult birthday parties and spooky Halloween parties! And because of its patriotic color (red, white, and blue), it also works great for American holidays such as Memorial Day and Fourth of July.
As for taste, this fun party shot is very fruity with peach, pomegranate, and orange flavors. The Irish cream (the brain part of the shot) adds in more deliciousness and some creamy flavor.
Let's get into how to make these really fun brain hemorrhage shots!
Alien Brain Hemorrhage Shot: Ingredients

✽ Peach Schnapps: Peach schnapps is a very fruity and sweet peach liqueur that tastes like peach candy! It will be the clear layer of the shot. Some good brands include DeKuyper Peachtree Schnapps, Mr Stacks Peach Schnapps, and Aspen's Peach Schnapps.
✽ Irish Cream: The Irish cream is the floating brain element of this shot. The creamy flavor pairs well with all the other fruity flavors added. My favorite brands are Kavanagh Irish Cream, Bailey's Irish Cream, and Fennelly's Irish Cream.
✽ Grenadine: Grenadine is a thick sweet heavy syrup made from pomegranate juice. A dash of grenadine will be the red part of the shot and most will fall to the bottom of the glass. I used Rose's Grenadine Syrup.
✽ Blue Curaçao: The blue curacao is obviously the blue part of the shot! Just a small amount of blue curacao is needed to give this shot its distinctive look. Despite it's color, blue curacao is actually an orange liqueur. Some good brands include DeKuyper Blue Curacao, Mr Stacks Blue Curacao, and Drillaud Blue Curacao.
How to Make Alien Brain Hemorrhage Shots
➊ In a shot glass, pour in 1 ounce peach schnapps. With a bar spoon angled against a side of the inside of the shot glass (see picture below), slowly pour 1/2 ounce Irish cream over the back of a spoon. The Irish cream should float on top of the peach schnapps.
➋ With your hand positioned about two inches above the shot glass, pour in 1/4 teaspoon grenadine. You want your hand to be high enough so that when the grenadine falls into the shot glass, it has enough force to break through the Irish cream floating on top.
➌ Again, with your hand about two inches above the shot glass, pour in 1/4 teaspoon blue curacao. Both the grenadine and blue curacao should break through the Irish cream leaving brain-like strands throughout the shot.

✽ Why do these shots look like a brain?
The brain-like effects of this shot are due to the Irish cream curdling.
The cream consists of fat, protein, and sugar, and they curdle in the presence of an acid such as alcohol. When the cream interacts with the alcohol (in this case, peach schnapps), the proteins in the Irish cream coagulate. The emulsion between fat and water is broken, and the fat and protein will separate from the water. The cream then curdles and becomes lumpy.
Other common shots that include curdling are the Irish car bomb and the cement mixer shot. The curdling is all just part of the appeal!
✽ How do you take this shot?
It is best for this shot to be taken in one big gulp. Like I just mentioned above, the Irish cream is curdled, and that is not something you want to sip on. Shoot it straight back for a fruity and tasty shot.
✽ Variant of the Brain Hemorrhage Shot
Another fun way to make this shot is to also add in 1/4 teaspoon of melon liqueur (Midori) for green, blue, and red colors. You could also swap out the blue curacao for the melon liqueur as well.
A regular brain hemorrhage shot just consists of peach schnapps, Irish cream, and grenadine.

Ingredients
• 1 ounce peach schnapps
• 1/2 ounce Irish cream
• 1/4 teaspoon grenadine
• 1/4 teaspoon blue curacao
Instructions
➊ Pour peach schnapps into a shot glass. With a bar spoon angled against the inside of the shot glass, slowly pour Irish cream over the back of the bar spoon so it floats on top of schnapps.
➋ With your hand about two inches above shot glass, pour in grenadine followed by the blue curacao. Cheers!
