Chocolatey, Creamy, & Boozy - Tasty Christmas Jello Shots!
Hot chocolate is great. Liquid warm chocolate that I can take with me on the go when I'm doing all the Christmas things? Yes, please!
However, it's not that convenient to lug hot chocolate with you to all of those holiday parties. Welcome hot chocolate Jello shots to the party.
These shots have all of the same flavors of a traditional hot chocolate, but they are filled with booze and you can easily take them with you to your next Christmas party or Christmas gatherings. When topped with mini marshmallows and/or whipped cream, these delicious jello shots are sure to be a big chocolatey hit and get everybody in the holiday spirit!

β½ Unflavored Gelatin Powder: I use unflavored gelatin powder so I can be in control of all the flavors and make sure the shots taste just like a cup of hot cocoa. For this recipe, I used Knox gelatin.
β½ Evaporated Milk: Using evaporated milk will give you a creamy shot. It's also a great option because evaporated milk is less likely to curdle than whole milk.
β½ Cocoa Powder: This will provide us with an extra chocolatey Jello shot!
β½ Sugar: Hot chocolate is sweet so adding in sugar is a must. You could also use brown sugar, honey, or any other sugar substitute.
β½ Vanilla Extract: A bit of vanilla flavor will make these hot chocolate shots super delicious.
β½ Chocolate Liqueur: Adds in great boozy chocolate taste!
Popular brands of chocolate liqueurs include Godiva Chocolate Liqueur and Borgata Chocolate Liqueur.
β½ Whipped Cream Vodka: Everybody knows that mini marshmallows melted into hot chocolate is the best. The addition of whipped cream vodka is the perfect way to get that melted marshmallow taste!
Pinnacle Whipped Cream Vodka, Smirnoff Whipped Cream Vodka, and Veil Whipped Cream Vodka are some of my favorite brands.
There's also many other different liquors you can use in this recipe. If you can find actual marshmallow vodka, you can use that in place of the whipped cream vodka. Vanilla vodka will also work in a pinch. If you are a big fan of candy canes, try swapping out the whipped cream vodka with a peppermint vodka or peppermint schnapps for chocolatey candy cane jello shots!
β½ Toppings: My favorite toppings for these hot chocolate Jello shots are mini marshmallows, whipped cream, festive sprinkles, and grated chocolate.
How to Make Hot Cocoa Jello Shots
β In a medium bowl, pour in 1/2 cup of evaporated milk (room temperature), sprinkle 2 envelopes of unflavored gelatin powder on top, and let sit.
β Meanwhile, in a medium sauce pan, whisk together 1 cup evaporated milk, 3 tablespoons sugar, and 2 tablespoons cocoa powder. Place over medium-low heat, whisking frequently, just until the mixture begins to simmer.
β Whisk warm chocolate milk mixture into the jello mixture. Continue whisking until all of the gelatin has dissolved and there are no clumps.
β Whisk in 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1/2 cup chocolate liqueur and 1/2 cup whipped cream vodka. Pour into 2-ounce plastic cups, and chill in the fridge for 3-4 hours or until set. I like to put all my shots on a baking sheet or cookie sheet in order to make them easier to transport.
β If desired, right before serving top with mini marshmallows, whipped cream, and/or grated chocolate. Cheers!
Keep any leftover Jello shots in the fridge in an airtight container or covered with plastic wrap or plastic lids.
