This elegant and delicious cocktail is a spicy jalapeno and cilantro margarita on bottom and dark red wine on top. It's the best of both worlds. Serve this up at your next dinner party for a show-stopping cocktail. I, personally, think it makes for a great Halloween cocktail giving off its moody and spooky vibes.

Ingredients

• 1/2 cup sugar
• 1/2 cup water
• 1 jalapeno, sliced
• 1 small bunch cilantro

For the Cocktail:

• 1 1/2 ounces silver tequila
• 1 ounce lime juice
• 3/4 ounce jalapeno & cilantro simple syrup
• 1/2 ounce red wine
Lime wedge and/or jalapeno slice, for garnish

Instructions

Make the Simple Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water. Stirring frequently, cook over medium heat just until all the sugar has dissolved (just right before it begins to simmer). Remove from heat. Add in the jalapeno slices and cilantro, and let sit at room temperature for at least 15 minutes. Strain when ready to use.
Make Cocktail: In a cocktail shaker, combine tequila, lime juice, and 3/4 ounces of the jalapeno cilantro simple syrup with a couple of ice cubes. Shake for about 10 seconds until chilled. Strain into a cocktail glass.
➌ Slowly pour red wine over the back of a bar spoon while hovering over the margarita so that it floats on top. Garnish with lime wedge or jalapeno slice.
